Soul Meets Body - Death Cab For Cutie

I had that melody in my head, but the lyrics “… I can see a subway station” instead of “‘Cause in my head there’s a Greyhound Station.”

Months later, I have a feeling that it’s one of the track on Plans, and now I have it. This is one of the times I haven’t been able to find it by remembering more accurate lyrics by trying to search. “Roam” by the B-52’s was another one.

There is a song stuck in my head right now but I don’t know what it is

>:(

And it doesn’t help that all I remember is the chorus going something like “O-oh dah dadah dadadah” in this really upbeat harmony with female vocals. There are probably 1 million songs like this.

Edit: maybe it’s something like “Oh-oh, if you want it so” (in harmony) but google doesn’t find anything that sounds like it.

Goddess on a Hiway - Mercury Rev

This catchy song was the worst “stuck in my head” song I’ve had in a long time. I couldn’t remember the name or lyrics, so I made a ton of google searches trying to find it. I started with a piece of a misremembered lyric, and somehow ended up finding it!

My search history looks something like this:

  • “where I’ve never gone before” song
  • I wanna buy a ticket plane song
  • i’m gonna take a car, and I’m gonna take a train
  • gonna put you on a car, gonna put you on a train
  • i’d ever done before lyrics
  • going faster than I’ve ever gone before

The last search was close enough to the real song for Google to find it. The actual lyric is “Well I got us on a hiway, I got us in a car / I got us going faster than we’ve ever gone before.”

I think it’s really weird that I remembered more words after a few searches than I thought I knew at first. Repeatedly guessing wrong and finding nothing seemed to bring out the right memory. There’s probably something really neat to do with psychology about this — if you know, tell me!

Also my brother was listening to this song all day, and that’s probably why “Goddess on a Hiway” got stuck in my head in the first place — the chord progression is the same.

tl;dr A song got stuck in my head and I found it by searching.
