theeconomist: Ron Paul will never be America’s president. But that a candidate with a worldview so wacky and a programme so radical has come this far tells you something about the mood of Republican voters. I might vote for Ron Paul if Obama would win anyway. Even if he did become president, he wouldn’t be able to get away with all of his crazy ideas, but he might be able to pull off some of his saner ones, like a smaller military and less confrontational foreign policy.
